Our Mission

The Transcona Council for Seniors Inc. is one of ten councils within the City of Winnipeg. The primary role is to assist seniors to remain living independently for as long as possible.  The Transcona Council for Seniors Inc. provides information and referrals to community seniors as well as identifying and facilitating services needed to meet the needs of Transcona Seniors.

Linking older adults with resources available in their community to enhance their well being.

About Us

The Transcona Council for Seniors Inc. primary role is to assist seniors to remain living independently for as long as possible within their community. The TCS was established in 1993 to carry on those purposes and undertakings and incorporated  August 20 1993.  The geographical boundaries of this region are: Lagimodiere Boulevard to the west, Springfield Road and Gunn Road to the north, the Perimeter Highway to the east, Dugald Road and Murdock Road, and Plessis Road to St. Boniface Road to the South.

 

The TCS Board manages the affairs of the Council, creates and implements policies to guide the day to day operations, appoints staff, oversees activities and programs, and promotes the mission and programs of the Council within the community. The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) funds the position of our Community Resource Coordinator as well as a Meal Coordinator.

 

TCS’s mission to enable seniors (55+) to maintain and enhance their quality of life is accomplished through our Resource Coordinator and community partners in the geographical area of Transcona.
